Health-care symposium
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine at 278 Whites Bridge Road, will host its third annual health care symposium from Monday through July 30.
The “Successfully Managing Major Change in Health Care” symposium will offer two health care-based topics each day. Academic credit or CEUs are available for non-student professionals. Garden music, Shakespeare
McLaughlin Garden, at 97 Main St., will host two garden-themed events this week.
On Saturday, guests are invited to tour the garden at 8 p.m. amid candlelight, live music and refreshments. Advance tickets are $10 for members and $15 for all others. Tickets on day of the event are $15. Rain date is July 31.
On Sunday, the Poland Players return to the garden for a free performance of Shakespeare in the garden at 2 p.m. For details, call 743-8820. Parking is located at the Garden Gate on Western Avenue.
NEW GLOUCESTER
Open Farm Day program
Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village on Route 26 will be one of many Maine working farms to open its doors on Sunday as part of Open Farm Day.
The village will be open from noon to 4 p.m. There will be free admission for tours, wagon rides, a bee display, Shaker architecture exhibit and livestock viewing, including for sheep and Scottish Highland cattle.

Babysitter certification
Martin’s Point Health Education Center will host a Babysitter Certification course from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 28. The two-part American Red Cross program offers child-care instruction in safety, basic first aid, emergencies and more for ages 11 and older. The cost is $52 and registration is required by calling (800) 260-6681.
