Party time ?in Sebago
Don’t miss the small town charm of Sebago Days right there in Sebago, just a stone’s throw from Naples. Just take Route 114 and you drive smack dab into the festivities. The weekend kicks off Friday, July 16, at 4 p.m. Vendors open at that time, with the Junior Parade following. The theme of the parade this year is “Fun Times in Sebago.” The fair promises some great raffles, delicious food, games, rides, entertainment, a talent show and even fireworks on Saturday night. Lions annual cruise
The Naples Lions will be cruising down Long Lake ’50s style on the Songo River Queen on Saturday, July 31, at 7 p.m. The $20 ticket price includes a two-hour cruise, refreshments and a DJ. The event benefits the many worthy programs the Lions support including the Lake Region High School Student of the Month and the kindergarten eye screening. As with all Lions clubs, they also are active in the recycling of eyeglasses for people in need. Best wishes to Arlene Stetson, owner of the Augustus Bove House, on being named the Naples Lions first female president.

Wooden boat show
Head on down to Long Lake for the 17th Annual Mountain View Woodies Wooden Boat Show. The show is a must see. Take your kids down to view the classic boats then go over for an ice cream or coffee at one of the new shops in town. The show starts Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. on Aug. 7, with a rain date of Aug. 8. It’s right on the causeway in Naples.
Local lobster bake
The emphasis on this lobster bake is local. The Naples Grange #94 is hosting its Second Annual Lobster Bake to be held Saturday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The Grange’s mission is to provide a fun-filled day for the family while supporting Maine fisherman and farmers. The $25 per person menu includes two lobsters, Maine potatoes, Maine corn, 3 bean salad, hot rolls, coffee, iced tea and dessert. A Chinese auction, raffles and entertainment are also planned. Kids art
Kids Art Night Out is a fantastic, educational and fun program offered by the talented Deb Goldstein. For $10, kids are given the opportunity to replicate famous artworks, play games and get creative! The class discusses the work and then comes the fun part! Time to create! Games and a short movie at the end are all part of the plan to entertain the kids for the night. Always the last Friday of the month, this month’s featured artist is M.C.Escher. Mark the calendar to drop off the kids at 6 p.m. at BKD Karate in CascoVillage on July 30. Make sure to send the kids in some old PJs and send a toothbrush and a healthy snack. Pickup time is 9 p.m. and your kids will be your tuckered out and all ready for bed and to dream of their next creation! Call Lisa, owner of BKD, at 627-7170 to register.
Community meal
Once again the kind folks at the Christ Chapel Church in the bordering town of Raymond are offering a complimentary meal for all. Friday, July 30, head to the church at 37 Northern Pines Road (off Route 85, near Crescent Lake).
