Traffic is back to normal after a gas leak on Wayside Drive in Westbrook was stopped.

Firefighters received a report of the gas leak at 1 p.m., shut down traffic in the area of Mechanic Street and evacuated nearby buildings.

By 2 p.m. the gas leak had been capped and traffic had returned to normal.

Authorities say they suspect the leak may be related to road construction going on in the area.
