PORTLAND — The Maine Turnpike Authority’s administration and public safety building at 2360 Congress St. will be named for Gerard P. Conley Sr. – the current MTA chairman and a former Portland mayor and Maine Senate president.
The naming ceremony for the year-old building will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
“Few Maine leaders are held in as high regard as Gerry Conley. He is a man of great compassion, integrity and heart,” MTA Vice Chairman Lucien Gosselin said in a statement.
As MTA chairman, Conley oversaw the completion of the 30-mile widening project and the implementation of E-Z Pass.
The new building brings together MTA’s administrative offices, E-Z Pass Customer Service Center and Maine State Police Troop G under one roof. These operations were previously spread among four different buildings that needed renovations.
