This spring 77 young athletes participated in the 2010 Junior Track & Field program at Gray New Gloucester High School track facilities. On the last day all of the children competed in two events and then finished up with the very dramatic and exciting 400 meter relay race. All of the children received a stat sheet with their event averages, a certificate and a track & field pin. Thank you to the GNGHS athlete volunteers.

Ages 8-10: 100 meter dash: Jaykob Sanborn, Emma Dyer, William Hicks, Madeline Testa, Isabella (Bo) Shampine; 200 meter run: Emma Dyer, Olivia Sawyer, Erica Schlichting, Caleb Carter, Gavin Claxton; Long jump: Caleb Carter, Austin LaLiberty, Olivia Sawyer, William Hicks, Jaykob Sanborn; Turbo javelin: Caleb carter, Jaykob Sanborn, William Hicks, Emma Dyer, Lindsay Pierce.

The 2010 summer flier has been distributed from the schools. There will also be copies available at Gray Town Hall, Newbegin Gym, Gray Public Library, in the lobbies of the schools and on the Gray website, www.graymaine.org.
The summer activities include: Recreation Day Camp, Mad Science Camp, North American Soccer Camps, Patriot Girls 7 Boys Basketball Camps, Men’s Top Flight 4 vs 4 Basketball League, Women’s Top Flight Basketball League, Adult Co-Ed Softball League, Pick-Up Basketball for girls in grades 5 and 6, Cabbage Island Clambake, Concert, The Radio Gang, Fishing Trip to Wild River, Youth Volleyball Camp for boys and girls, Kettlebell Exercise and Core Training, Hula Hoop Exercise Class, American Red Cross Swim Lessons.
Wilkies Beach is open for the season. Season passes are available at Gray Town Hall and at the beach. Individual passes are $25, family passes are $45. Walk-on fees are $1 (ages 3-11), and $3 (ages 12 and up). Parking fee for boat trailer and vehicle is $5. Wilkies Beach is a Gray resident-only facility. Courtesy boat inspections are now being conducted at Crystal Lake. This program is in effort to prevent invasive plants from entering our lake.
American Red Cross swim lessons will be held starting June 29. The fee this season is $35 per child. Registrations take place on June 8 (7 p.m.) and June 13 (4 p.m.) at the beach.

Fiddlehead is flexible and fun
Flexible and Fun Summer Camps are being offered this summer at Fiddle Art & Science Center for ages 3-16. Summer session runs July 5 – Aug. 27. Soccer club date change
The mandatory coaches meeting date has been changed to Sunday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Androscoggin Bank, due to Little League games and practice.
People that are required to attend are: coaches, assistant coaches and anyone who may be interested in coaching.
Class of 2000 reunion
Gray-New Gloucester High School Class of 2000 will hold its 10-year reunion Friday, Oct. 22, at Spring Meadows in Gray from 7 p.m. to midnight. For more information, contact Ryan Hughes at HughesRP@hotmail.com.
Library summer fun
Every Tuesday in June the Gray Public Library at 5 Hancock St., Gray, will be having Family Game Night from 6 p.m. to closing. Games and snacks are provided. The event is open to the public.
On the week of June 21, Summer Reading begins! The theme this year will be “Make a Splash.”

Summer youth football
The Summer Football Session for all students entering fourth, fifth and sixth grade next fall who live in Gray or New Gloucester starts the week of June 19 and runs until the week of July 19.

Fly fishing and laughs
The Maine Wildlife Park on Route 26 in Gray will host Fly Tying & Fly Casting with Trout Unlimited Saturday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sebago Trout Unlimited chapter members will be on hand to teach these popular fishing techniques.
New England’s premier native humorist Tim Sample will be at the park Saturday, June 19, for Fish & Wildlife Day. The days activities will include Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife biologists, game wardens, safety and hatchery staff with a variety of special fish and wildlife exhibits and displays. Events run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Graham kick-off
The “Graham for Maine House Campaign Kick-Off Party” is set for Thursday, June 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Gray Congregational Church Hall on Brown Street in Gray.
