AUGUSTA — Federal officials say 25 homeless veterans in Maine are going to get permanent housing help.
The assistance comes through a $166,290 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. It will pay for a program that connects homeless veterans with rental assistance vouchers provided by public housing agencies.
The grant is part of a $75 million federal program to support the needs of homeless veterans.
HUD’s Richard Walega says the department has pledged to end homelessness in New England in the next decade.
