My wife and I will have traveled over 2,000 miles when we return home to Windham. It will be nice to sleep in our own bed once again although I must state that the only thing bad that happened to us was in Groton, Connecticut where my wife’s shampoo and conditioner disappeared.

Our vacation was a nice break away from most of the news but that which I managed to pick up was very disappointing, especially the Obama administration and the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico.

First the abomination of the Obama administration, which I can only state that we are being sold down the drain by the nitwits in the White House and the dummies heading the House and Senate in Washington, D.C. and God knows in how many state legislatures.

I can state that the Legislature in South Carolina is considering passing a bill similar to the one Arizona passed on illegal immigrants. That’s better than what the morons in California’s Legislature did by proclaiming Arizona off limits to business.

As far as I am concerned, Obama is selling America one piece at a time as he does nothing but blame former President Bush for everything that is wrong in America. He isn’t bright enough to look at the fact that the Congress was controlled by the Democrats and Congress has enough power to override the President when it wants. Obama recently stated that the United States would not launch any missiles for testing without notifying 128 other countries of those tests. You can bet that all those nations who despise us will be in the vicinity to monitor everything possible so they can build better missile systems themselves.

Secretary of Stupidity Hillary Clinton is in China and probably also selling us down the drain at the same time. She probably doesn’t even know where North Korea is. The Korean peninsula is one of the most likely places where World War III could begin and since South Korea publicly stated North Korea sank one of their warships with a torpedo, tensions are rising in the region and I totally doubt we have an administration with any clue as how to handle the situation.

Another thing that ticks me off is how so many members of the Obama administration could condemn Arizona for passing legislation to reduce the amount of illegal immigrants in the state and yet all have admitted to never having read the 10 pages of legislation. That’s like a police officer stopping someone for speeding and never looking at the radar gun. I am willing to bet that many couldn’t even find Arizona on a map.

And what’s up with BP and the oil slick that they caused? They hesitate to accept full blame and seem reluctant to give full disclosure to the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf. They remind me of Washington, D.C. with that attitude. We did see many BP gasoline stations in the South, and I hope that they are boycotted at some point in time. Oh well, we look forward to seeing all our friends when we return home to Windham. Now comes the hard part of deciding to move down to Georgia. I wonder if the town manager would buy our house just to get rid of me?

When he’s not on the road, Lane Hiltunen lives in Windham.
