STANDISH — Two people were injured after their car collided Sunday night with a 500-pound bull moose.

Cumberland County Chief Deputy Kevin Joyce said the collision took place around 8:30 p.m. on Oak Hill Road.

The driver, 31-year-old Justin Webber of Portland, had to be extricated from his 1997 Chevrolet Lumina. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with what Joyce described as “serious life-threatening injuries.”

A passenger, 21-year-old Jessica Rickman of Limington, was also taken to the hospital. Joyce said her injuries were considered non-life- threatening.

The moose died in the crash.
