In 2003, Michael Muhammad Knight published a novel, “The Taqwacores,” about the Islamic punk music scene. Such a scene didn’t exist then, but, thanks to Knight’s book, it does now; inspired by Knight’s book, Islamic punk bands began popping up.

The documentary film “Taqwacore: The Birth of Punk Islam” follows Knight and four Islamic punk bands on tour. Go to www.taqwacore.com to watch the trailer.
