THE GOOD SHEPHERD Food-Bank has launched the Maine Farm, Dairy and Seafood Initiative in an effort to bring more nutritious Maine grown foods to people suffering from hunger in the state. The food bank has 11 partners including Bell Farms, Cozy Harbor Seafood, Cultivating Community, Jordan Farms, Mayberry Farm, Nova Seafood, Pineland Farms, Spiller Farm, Turning Wheel Farm, and farmers Sam Hawes and Mark Raven.

PORTLAND

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of Southern Maine hosted the University of Southern Maine School of Music’s 27-piece wind ensemble, which under Peter Martin conducted a virtual music tour through the countryside of France with selections from composer Gordon Jacob’s music for a festival.

The performance was part of a free series offered to youth club members during the school year.

WESTBROOK

THE PAMPERED CHEF during May is hosting a “Help Whip Cancer Fundraiser Cooking Show.”

Local consultants will help prepare recipes for guests, share cooking tips and inform people of the various products available. Up to 25 percent of total show sales will be contributed to the American Cancer Society.

The Pampered Chef is also offering a line of pink cooking tools, with $1 from every pink item also benefiting the American Cancer Society. Last year, the campaign raised $875,000.
