The median sales price of existing homes in Maine rose nearly 10 percent last month, to $164,900, compared to March of 2009, the Maine Real Estate Information System is reporting.

Sales volume was up 46 percent in March, compared to the same time last year.

Nationally, single-family existing homes sales rose 13.3 percent. The National Association of Realtors reports the national median sales price increased a fraction of 1 percent, to $170,700 in March.

Regionally, sales in the Northeast were up 25.4 percent and the regional median sales price increased 8.9 percent to $249,800 in March.
