Maine State Police have charged Patrick Dapolito with murdering his wife, Kelly Winslow-Dapolito, at the couple’s Limington home on March 16, according to a police spokesman.

Detectives arrested Dapolito, 39, at the State Police Barracks in Gray at 5:30 p.m. today, said Steve McCausland, state public safety spokesman. Dapolito had arranged, through his attorney, to turn himself in, McCausland said.

Dapolito was taken to the York County Jail in Alfred and will make his first court appearance on the murder charge on Monday in York County Superior Court in Alfred, McCausland said.

Dapolito is charged with shooting his 30-year-old wife at the couple’s home on Mike’s Way in Limington, McCausland said. The couple had been married about six months. Four children lived with them.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Winslow-Dapolito died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled the death a homicide, McCausland said.

State Police detectives found Winslow-Dapolito’s body on March 19 in Upton, on land off Route 26 that is owned by Dapolito’s father, Robert Dapolito, who usually goes south for the winter, a town officlal said.

McCausland declined to provide further information. He said additional details about the shooting and its aftermath may be revealed in court documents following Monday’s arraignment.

Upton is west of Bethel and just north of Grafton Notch State Park, about 85 miles from Limington.
