GrowSmart Maine has named Nancy Smith as its new executive director.

Smith is a Democratic state representative from Monmouth, chairwoman of the Maine Legislature’s Business, Research and Economic Development Committee and a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. Smith is an organic farmer and licensed forester.

She will begin her new postilion in early May. GrowSmart Maine, based in Portland, promotes sustainable economic growth that protects the state’s landscape and community characteristics.
