High school alumni
Did you attend Windham High School? As a member of the alumni, you may be interested in joining the Windham High School Alumni Association, the oldest organization in Windham. Formed in the early 1920s, the group continues to meet and plans a banquet each May, in addition to providing scholarships and support for the high school. If you’d like to join, and/or attend the banquet, contact Sam or Sue Simonson, ssimons1@maine.rr.com. Better yet, help with the plans for this year’s May 15 dinner by attending the next meeting of the association on Tuesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Alumni Room at the high school. Invitations to this year’s banquet will be mailed or e-mailed to association members the first week of April. The limit at the cafeteria at the middle school – where the dinner is held – is 300, so join up now!

Donations will be accepted now through April 30.
Preserving history
Windham Historical Society has been around for more than 40 years, routinely providing history tours for school children and presenting free public programs on subjects ranging from building stone walls to the Civil War. Most recently, dozens of people from Windham and surrounding towns attended a two-hour program on the Cumberland & Oxford Canal. The society’s Web site, windhamhistorical.org, offers information on future programs and endeavors, as well as an application form for anyone who would like to join. New members are always welcome.
On Monday, April 26, the group will meet at the museum on Windham Center Road for a 7 p.m. program on Windham’s old schools. The public is welcome to attend. There is no charge, but donations are always needed to continue the vital work of preserving history.
