A public information session on the new federal lead-based paint rules will be from 1 to 4 p.m. March 26 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.

The session, hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will explain the new rules that go into effect April 22. The rules are designed to limit children’s exposure to lead dust and will impact contractors and consumers.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
