Traffic is being slowed by a tractor-trailer crash on the Maine Turnpike northbound in Portland.
The crash happened at 12:30 p.m. between Exits 46 in Portland and Exit 47 in Westbrook.
The truck crashed into the median. No other cars were involved, turnpike officials said.
None of the people involved required transport to a hospital, authorities said.
The crash reduced traffic to one lane on the turnpike. The restriction is likely to continue through the evening commute because the Department of Environmental Protection must excavate soil contaminated by leaking fluids from the truck.
Northbound motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
