Gray First Congregational Church will hold its monthly Public Supper on Saturday, March 27, from 5-6 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children under 12. The menu includes baked beans, casseroles, salads, homemade biscuits and pies. The meal is served in the Supper Room downstairs in the church. It’s handicapped accessible. Heather Chapman, an eighth-grader at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, received a 2nd place trophy from the State Hot Shot contest held March 7 at the Portland Expo. Sixty of 800 kids who participated statewide made it to the finals. The competition tested each contestant’s speed, shooting, dribbling and rebounding ability. Congratulations Heather, on a job well done!
‘Seussical the Musical, Jr.’
Seventy young actors from 20 different schools will take the stage at Fiddlehead Center’s “Seussical the Musical, Jr.” This fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza brings all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters to life onstage!
The Fiddlehead Center offered three afterschool classes for ages 4-10 in conjunction with the play: Set Design, Theater Skills and Storybook Theater.
Show dates are March 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 2 p.m. at the Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, Libby Hill Road, Route 26 (across from Hannaford). Mad about science
Mad Science held at Russell School, Gray, System #3 will include fun topics such as CHE-mystery, Current Events, FUN-damental Forces and more. Each child will come home with a football glider, loop flying plane and electroscope. Classes will start April 8 and end May 20. They will be held from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in the Cafe?. Immediate help wanted!
Coaches are needed for G-NG middle school and high school. With only a few weeks until the season starts, there are openings for three stipend coaching positions: seventh-grade softball coach, girls varsity soccer coach and boys varsity basketball coach. Easter egg hunt
The annual Easter egg hunt will be held at Pineland Farms Visitor’s Center in New Gloucester on March 27. Events start with Peter Rabbit at approximately 10:30 a.m. At 11 a.m., the egg hunt will begin. This year there will be three separate hunt areas: children ages 3 and under, 4 to 7 or 8 and up. Plastic eggs will be scattered on the grounds containing candy and special golden eggs will be redeemable for prizes. After the hunt, Gray Recreation will sponsor a few eggciting games such as egg toss and an egg roll. Rain date will be on Sunday. Call 657-2323 for more information.
April vacation camp
Gray Recreation Department and Fiddlehead Center for the Arts will be partnering to provide an exciting line-up of enrichment classes Tuesday, April 20, through Friday, April 23.
This is a very popular program that will keep children, ages 6 to 13, stimulated and active during the school vacation period.
The times will be 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at G-NG Middle School.

Improvement at MSAD #15
MSAD #15 invites all parents and community members to an informational session called Reinventing Schools Coalition – Introduction to the RISC Model Thursday, March 25, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the G-NGHS Cafe?.
Rich DeLorenzo, author of “Delivering on the Promise,” as well as a school district administrator and co-founder of RISC, will present the program.
This is a potential educational model for MSAD #15 and is a connection to the district vision of preparing all students for their next steps; college, citizenship or career. MSAD #15 has been investigating the RISC model, which shows promise in improving student engagement and student leadership, leading to student success!
Used book sale
The Gray Public Library Association will hold its annual spring used book sale on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. in the library basement. There will be an early bird sale with a $5 admission fee on Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30. p.m.
They have a huge collection of hardcover and paperback fiction and nonfiction, books for readers from toddlers through young adults, audio books, VHS tapes, CDs, and DVDs. Most hardcover books are priced at a dollar and paperbacks are 50 cents.

All aboard!
Maine All Scale Narrow Gauge Train Show will be held at Gray-New Gloucester High School off Route 26 at 10 Libby Hill Road, Gray, Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Modular railroads, HOn – Sn – On – Gn, are welcome. There will be clinics offered and new this year, a model contest. All winners will be selected by the vote of those at the show. There will also be vendors and food, with breakfast and lunch provided by the Gray-New Gloucester Athletic Boosters.
