PORTLAND — Public school students who ride Metro bus lines will continue paying 50 cents through the end of the school year even though fare increases will go into effect for other riders on April 1.

The reduced fare applies to students who have a special Metro student fare card. The fare for students who use the card will increase to 75 cents in September.

The cost of the summer youth bus pass also will remain $20 this year.
