Jon Bass, a senior at Cape Elizabeth High School, broke both the school and Western Maine Conference indoor track records for pole vault on Jan 15 at the WMC meet at USM in Gorham.

Bass broke the records with a vault of 13-4.5, a height that also met the National Silver Standard and National Elites. It was the second time this season that Bass had set a school and conference pole vault record, on Jan. 4, his vault of 13-2 broke the existing record of 13 feet that had stood since 2005.
