I first want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This is my last column of the year as I need a break from my insane schedule of late. I have read many articles lately and most have convinced me that our government at all levels needs to be replaced but I guess that will happen when pigs fly.

The first question I have to ask is why does the average federal employee make $30,000 more than the average worker in the United States? While the private sector lost more than 7 million jobs during this recession, the number of federal workers that make over $100,000 increased 5 percent.

What really irks me the most is that Social Security recipients are not going to receive a cost-of-living increase and yet the brain-dead dolts in Congress are giving federal workers a 2 percent pay raise. Talk about government taking care of itself first! The pork does fly at Capitol Hill.

An article in one paper said that nearly 10,000 federal jobs a month have been added this year. This article also stated that federal pay raises were averaging 6.6 percent while those of the private sector were 3.9 percent (although I’m hard-pressed to find pay raises like that in Windham). All this while President Obama constantly states that bankers are fat-cats who must do more for U.S. taxpayers.

Just in case you don’t have a clue where I am going here, it’s become very obvious to me that Obama and his fellow communists, socialists or whatever you want to call them from Congress are out to change the very capitalist society that made America great. If you don’t understand what I mean, shame on you. In the past, the very essence of American industry made America great and under Obama, you, the taxpayer, get to pay for everything even after pigs fly.

Congress just passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill while Fort Knox doesn’t have the gold bullion to cover those funds. The speaker of the House, “Nanny” Pelosi, has no reservations about raising the tax bills for you, your children and grandchildren. Even the Federal Aviation Administration loves to spend your tax dollars frivolously. An airport in Michigan received a $7.5 million grant, which included stone fireplaces. Oh yeah, the exciting news here is that airport serves 72 passengers a day. And sorry, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Our federal government is on a spending spree never seen before in our history and we can only thank the morons in government for creating jobs that only taxpayers will pay for.

In Maine, the Dirigo Health agency made headlines because it might have to default on a $25 million loan. This is the agency that was supposed to have health insurance for hundreds of thousands of uninsured Mainers and spent $54 million on a fraction of that. I wouldn’t expect anything less because most legislators in Disgusta share one brain cell. On top of that the state of Maine is facing a budget shortfall of $400 million. I don’t expect that situation to improve for years and when pigs learn to fly, I bet they’ll never be seen in Maine again.
