SCARBOROUGH — Right on cue with hot weather, Summerfest returns this weekend.
Held at Clifford Mitchell Sports Complex, informally known as the high school fields, the fun begins Friday evening, Aug. 14, with a 6 p.m. one-mile kids road race for ages 13 and under, followed by an adult 5K road race at 6:30 p.m. Register online or at the tennis courts from 4-6 p.m. on the day of the race. The cost is $10 for kids and $15 for the 5K and both begin at the Scarborough Library.
On Saturday, Aug. 15, Summerfest opens at noon and activities start with a magic show from 1:30-2 p.m. From 2-4 p.m. the Robby Coffin Combo performs and another magic show will take place from 4-4:30 p.m. From 5-6 p.m. there will be a hypnosis show, followed by a band, The Awesome, from 6:30-9 p.m. A strolling magician will be around from 7-8 p.m. and the festivities will wrap up with fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
The rain date for Summerfest is Sunday, Aug. 16, with a revised schedule. For more information, call Community Services at 730-4150.
