SCARBOROUGH —The town and a number of organizations are sponsoring Snowy Egret Day, an activity-packed wildlife celebration geared toward both children and adults.

Scheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 8, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  the day offers many different activities to entertain and educate families on the importance of the Scarborough Marsh as a critical habitat for a variety of Maine wildlife, particularly birds.

Events include:

•7-8:30 a.m. Early morning canoe tour with a Maine Audubon naturalist, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center

•7-8 a.m. Nature photography with photographer Doug Hitchcox, Eastern Trail

•7 a.m. –1 p.m.  Volksmarch with the Southern Maine Volkssport Association, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center

•8-9 a.m. Bird walk with a Maine Audubon naturalist, Eastern Trail

•9-10 a.m. Eastern Trail Walk with the Eastern Trail Alliance, Eastern Trail

•9-10:15 a.m. Clam digging with Scarborough Harbor Master Dave Corbeau, Pine Point Narrows

•10-11:30 a.m. Canoe tour with a Maine Audubon naturalist, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center

•1-2 p.m. Family paint-out with the Fiddlehead Center for the Arts, Eastern Trail

•10 a.m. –12 p.m.  Historical marsh display with the Scarborough Historical Society, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center

•9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Used book sale, children’s nature crafts, photography exhibit, marsh exhibits, displays and more, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center
