The Legends recently swept a much-needed pair of wins. In the first game, the Legends rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final four minutes to shock Greely, 98-94. Greely seemingly had the game in hand before the Legends started knocking down 3-pointers.
Frank Billings was simply unstoppable, ripping the nets for 10 3-pointers and finishing with a game high 49 for the winners. CJ Vose was strong in scoring 30 as well for the Legends. Matt McDonough again led the tough luck Greely team with 37, Caleb Jordan chipped in 28.
In the second game, the Legends simply wore down Dream Team, 109-91. Billings again trickled the nets with nine 3s and 34 points. Travis Seaver provided a solid 31 for the victors. Eric Strout was outstanding in defeat, leading Dream Team with 42, Jordan Hebert added 25.
Smith Barney rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to stun the A-Team, 84-79. Trailing 52-35 at the break, Smith Barney clamped down defensively, allowing only 27 second half points. Shaun Williams was aggressive in going to the basket, finishing with 32 to lead Smith Barney, CJ Lefevre added 19. Matt Isaacs led A-Team with 24 and James Oberg had 22.
VTEC pulled away from the winless Bus Drivers in the second half to win going away, 99-71. VTEC got their usual balanced scoring, with three players scoring 20 or more points, led by Caleb Sayward’s 27. Derek Goff had 22 and Michael Bunker 18 for the Bus Drivers.
Team Hancock outgunned Run N Gun, 89-76. Bob Mayo scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half for the winners. Matt Hancock added 24. Rich Wong led Run N Gun with 27, Jamie Coll and Warren Mathieson each had 21.
PBR pounded New Era, 95-54. Chad Pulkinnen led six players in double figures with 21 for PBR. Ray Eatmon added 20, John Conley had 21 and Dave Brown 20 for New Era.
Player of the Week-Frank Billings, Legends (49 and 34 points in a doubleheader sweep including 19 total 3s for both games. It’s the second time Billings has been player of the week this season.)
