PORTLAND — The Portland Sea Dogs swept their second straight doubleheader at Hadlock Field, taking two from the Binghamton Mets by 3-1 and 6-2 scores on Wednesday in front of 5,070 fans.

In the opener, the Sea Dogs scored all three runs in the first inning when the home team got a run on an error and RBIs from Ryan Kalish and Jorge Jimenez. The trio of scores were enough support for Portland starter Junichi Tazawa (8-5), who gave up a first-inning homer and then retired 15-of-17 batters faced.

In the nightcap, Portland scored six runs in the first two innings and Adam Mills tossed fives scoreless innings to win his third straight start.

Again it was Jimenez who  got things going in the first with an RBI double before the Sea Dogs scored four of their five second-inning runs with two outs.

Matt Sheely, Kalish and Jimenez each had RBI hits in the inning off Binghamton starter Jake Ruckle.

The Sea Dogs and the Mets conclude their three-game series, tonight, at 7 p.m. Portland Lefty Felix Doubront (5-2, 3.71) makes his 16th start of the season against righty Dylan Owen, who is 1-5, 5.48 in 13 starts with Binghamton.
