A Standish man who last year held authorities at bay during a standoff has been charged with multiple crimes following an investigation by police into a fight at his home.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Danny H. Wolfe II, 27, of 13 Quail Ridge, was arrested by deputies who were called to the house on June 28. Wolfe is charged with operating under the influence, domestic assault, obstructing the report of crime and violation of conditions of release. He is currently being held without bail at Cumberland County Jail, pending arraignment on July 1.
After pleading guilty to charges stemming from the eight-hour standoff in May 2008, Wolfe was on deferred disposition, which led to the violation of conditions of release charge. Under deferred disposition, a person must complete a period of time without further violations in order to escape harsher punishment.
In the May 2008 case, police responded to a report made by Wolfe’s wife that Wolfe was threatening to kill her and their two children. Wolfe’s wife had left the residence and made the call from a relative’s home in Buxton.
When police arrived at around 4 p.m., Wolfe was armed and barricaded inside the house. After eight hours of negotiation, tear gas was used to draw Wolfe from the house. He was charged with criminal threatening and creating a police standoff.
