Gray-New Gloucester’s Laura Getchell may have struck out 15 in the Patriots’ 5-2 win over Lake Region on Tuesday, but it was the first one that likely will be the one she remembers the longest.

That’s because Getchell’s first strikeout of the game was also the 500th of her career. The junior pitcher also contributed with her bat, getting a key two-run single to clinch the win for the Patriots (10-3) over the Lakers (6-7). Allison Clark was the losing pitcher for Lake Region despite pitching a strong game, allowing just four hits.
