Lake Region High School pitcher Jess Swecker fires one home during a game in Falmouth on May 15. The Lakers (6-6), ranked No. 7 in the latest Heal Points, took an early lead on the Yachtsmen on a Devin Fitzgerald RBI bunt in the second and added two more runs on Falmouth errors in the third. But the Yachtsmen tied the game with a three-run fifth and gave up the winning run in the sixth to fall to Falmouth 4-3. The Lakers got back in the win column against Sacopee Valley on May 18 as Swecker picked up the win and helped her own cause with a two-run double in the third as the Lakers beat the Hawks 8-3.

Fortune wasn’t as kind to the Lakers on Tuesday as they were beaten on the road in Cape Elizabeth, 15-0, in a game that was ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. The Lakers return to action at home against Gray-New Gloucester on May 22 and will take on Traip Academy in a road game on May 27.
