The South Portland School Committee recognized the South Portland High School hockey team on May 11, in honor of the team being awarded the Western Maine Class A Hockey sportsmanship banner for the recently completed season.

School Superintendent Suzanne Godin also recognized Coach Joseph Robinson on his distinction of being chosen as the Maine High School Hockey Class A (Tier II/III) coach of the year. Robinson, a former Riots hockey captain, took over the program in 2008.
