LEWISTON – Sun Media Group, parent company of The Sun Journal and 11 weekly newspapers, including The Forecaster, has launched a new website with the Employment Times for job seekers and employers in Maine and New Hampshire at MyJobWave.com.
“The power of two strong local businesses working together to offer a much-needed service in these challenging economic times is just one of the reasons we wanted to launch this product,” said Steve Costello, vice president of Sun Media Group.

The Web site, www.MyJobWave.com, allows employers the flexibility of unlimited job postings at a low subscription cost while providing reliable, robust features for both recruiter and job seekers. This value is provided to all businesses including small businesses with fewer than ten employees.
The new partnership combines the power of both online and print to enhance a job seeker’s search and an employer’s reach to qualified job candidates. The partnership provides leading print vehicles, including The Employment Times, HR Times and the publications of Sun Media Group: The Lewiston Sun Journal; The Forecaster weekly group; Rumford Falls Times; Norway Advertiser-Democrat; Bethel Citizen; Franklin Journal; Livermore Falls Advertiser; Rangeley Highlander and the Penobscot Times.

named ‘fit-friendly’
PORTLAND — The American Heart Association has designated four southern Maine companies as “fit-friendly” in recognition of exemplary employee wellness programs.
Cardiovascular Consultants of Maine earned the platinum award, the highest level in Maine.
Hannaford Supermarkets earned the gold level award, worksite innovation award and community innovation award.
L.L. Bean and Mercy Health System of Maine were each recognized with a gold level award.
Good Deeds
Scarborough-based Hannaford Supermarkets announced that its eighth annual Hannaford Helps Schools program raised $1.4 million in 2008, benefiting 2,700 schools throughout New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.
Mark McCain of Yarmouth recently spent a week volunteering in Mississippi with a 17-member construction crew through International Relief Teams, a San Diego-based non-profit, repairing homes of the poor and elderly damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
The TD Charitable Foundation based out of South Portland donated $100,000 to Special Olympics Maine for renovations at Camp Tall Pines in Poland.
The student-run Common Good Grant program at Bowdoin College has awarded grants totaling $15,630 to support projects by local non-profits, ArtVan, Bath Elementary PTA, Compass Project, Maine Housing Building Materials Exchange, Merrymeeting AIDS, MidCoast Hunger Prevention Program, and Tri-County Literacy Volunteers.

Members of the Portland Pirates recently visited The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland to deliver over 1,000 teddy bears donated from fans.
