Your stamping will keep horses stomping

Open Gates Equine Rescue in New Gloucester is teaming up with Close To My Heart and Inspire Me to host an all-day crop (that’s scrapbooking for us newbies).

Welcome veteran scrappers and newcomers alike to join us Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church Parish House. located behind McDonald’s in Gray Center.

There will be make-and-take projects, demonstrations and lots of products to get you started. A delicious lunch is provided with your registration and there will be drinks and bake sale items on sale throughout the day. Plus, free coffee all day. We will have raffles and door prizes available throughout the day as well.

All proceeds for this fundraiser will be used to care for the 15 rescued horses at Open Gates Equine Rescue in New Gloucester. You can visit our Web site at www.opengatesequinerescue.com to learn more about us.

Get ready for WinterFest

WinterFest on Crystal Lake is Saturday, March 7 at St. Gregory’s parish hall, North Raymond Road in Gray. The events for the day include: an ice fishing derby, snowmobile fun run, a silent auction, children’s activities, New Meadow’s Ice Racing and a Snack Shack serving breakfast, lunch and delicious homemade goodies.

Crossroads Community has a free hot meal served weekly. In light of the present economic crisis, kindness and financial assistance are needed now more than ever. It is held Tuesday evenings from 6 – 7 p.m., Crossroads Community Church, 14 Lewiston Road, Gray, just north of McDonalds on Route 100 across the street from the American Legion Hall. American Legion Auxiliary, will hold its monthly public supper Saturday, March 7, at the Post #86 American Legion Hall, 15 Lewiston Road (Route 100) from 5 – 6 p.m. The meal cost is $7 for adults, $2.50 for children under 12 and free for children under 5. The menu will include: baked beans, chop suey, coleslaw, hot dogs, breads, desserts and beverages.

Full moon snowshoe tour

On Tuesday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m., bring a headlamp and snowshoes and discover Libby Hill in the light of a full moon.

We will do a leisurely two-hour tour using trails and off trail routes. This event is by advanced reservation only and a $10 donation per person to the “Save Libby Hill” campaign is required. Register online at www.libbyhill.org or call Steve McPike at 657-2114.

Birdie Googins a.k.a “The Marden’s Lady” is coming to Gray/New Gloucester Middle School Saturday, March 28 at 7 p.m., while at 6 p.m. a silent auction will be held. “See you theah deah.” Googins’ one-woman show will absolutely delight you with her unique style and Maine humor. Tickets are $12 per person, and are available at the door.

Tickets are on sale for the First Community Theatre Production – The Jungle Book Kids! This production provides an opportunity to showcase all of our talented Fiddlehead’s students (music, voice, arts, sciences and technology) all on one stage. Tickets are $5. Parent’s Night Out

Parent’s Night Out events will be held Fridays, March 6 and 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. Take this opportunity to have a night out on the town. Pizza, a craft project, games and activities are included. New food pantry

The Community Auxiliary Food Pantry, located at the Gray Congregational Church, 11 Yarmouth Road, behind McDonald’s, is open to anyone in need. Just go to the rear door of the Parish House, and follow the signs and the path. The food pantry is open the first and third Friday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. beginning Friday, March 6.

The first-ever February Vacation Fun Camp was an awesome experience for all of the children and staff that were involved. Boys and girls ages 6 to 13 were involved in a very busy and fun week of trips and enrichment classes for the full week.

Special thanks to: Dana Welch, Amy Brindley, Felicia Dyer, Tracey Ross, Carrey Lockard (thanks for the delicious ice cream), Nick Bennett and Kayla Dore. Thanks also to the School Administrative District 15 transportation and custodial staff.

A week-long April Vacation Fun Camp is coming. Camp will be held April 20-24, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We also offer early drop-off at 7 a.m. and late pick-up at 5:30 p.m. daily. April Vacation Camp will be very similar to the winter camp with the exception of a few different trips and more outdoor activities/classes.

Registration forms will be available mid-March through the schools and for pick-up at Newbegin and Gray Town Hall. For more information, call 657-2323.

Summer day camp evening sign-ups will take place March 10, 16 and 17, 5-7 p.m., downstairs at Newbegin. More dates to register will be made available later. Camp will be held from June 29 to Aug. 21, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be early drop-off at 7 a.m. and late pick-up at 5:30 p.m. The camp is for children ages 6 to 13.

Gray Little League returning players may submit registration materials, including registration form, medical waiver form, a copy of your birth certificate (if not on file with the league) and a check made out to Gray Little League for your registration fee, by mail to: Gray Little League, P.O.
