The Scarborough Senior WOW Program has expanded its lineup for local seniors age 55 and over.
In addition to the weekly lunches and bingo at Hillcrest, movies will now be shown at Hillcrest on Thursdays at 1 p.m. A new drama group, the WOW Players, has also been formed.
Health and wellness programming will be provided at Bessey Commons on Route 1 in Scarborough. Tai chi classes will taught on Thursdays at 10 a.m. by Kai Nigro of Advanced Muscle Performance. Cost is $6 a class. A healthy-living support group (10-10-10) is being offered on Mondays at 10 a.m.
Other exercise programs are also being planned for the near future.
Free blood-pressure checks are administered on the first and third Wednesdays at Hillcrest at 10:30 a.m. and the second and fourth Wednesdays at Bessey Commons at 9 a.m.
Senior WOW will continue its Out to Lunch Bunch groups and the Senior Trips. The program also provides transportation to the weekly lunches, bingo, and to some of the OLLI (Senior College) classes.
“Bring Your Grandchildren Day,” an annual intergenerational program, is being planned for the spring.
The WOW Players had their first production, a selection of comedic monologues and a skit, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Senior WOW luncheon at Hillcrest. Their next performance will be at the Senior WOW luncheon on April 15.
