TOPSHAM — Gary N. Furbish, 59, died Feb. 17 at Maine Medical Center from Interstitial Lung Disease.
He was born in Brunswick, Dec. 6, 1949, son of Melvin G. and Dorothy (Newell) Furbish.
He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968 and attended Husson College.
On June 27, 1970, he married DeDee Dionne.
The bulk of his career was spent at Verizon. He retired as a Verizon operation manager after 31 years of employment.
He and his wife were owners of The Gurnet Inn of Brunswick for several years.
He was community-minded, serving as a volunteer fireman for Topsham and on the Board of Selectmen.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, duck hunting in Merrymeeting Bay and fishing.
He was predeceased by a brother, Sheldon Furbish, in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of Topsham; his parents of Topsham; daughter Kimberly Curless and her husband Peter of Raymond; two brothers, Randall Furbish of Litchfield and Timothy Furbish of Harpswell; and grandchildren, MacKenzie, Mason, Ella, and Cooper.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
