Saturday suppers
The Gray-New Gloucester High School girls basketball program will be hosting their 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction Saturday, Feb. 7 at the G-NG Middle School, Libby Hill Road in Gray. Dinner is 5 – 6:30 p.m. and the Silent Auction is 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 for children 10 and under, $5 for children 11 and older or $15 for the entire immediate family. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, fresh rolls and homemade pie.
Or, if your more in the mood for a good old fashioned bean supper that same night, Saturday, Feb. 7, then head over to the American Legion Hall at 15 Lewiston Road (Rt. 100). American Legion Post #86 will be featuring baked beans, American chop suey, coleslaw, hot dogs, bread, desserts and beverages. The price is $7 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under. Children under 5 eat free.
By the light of the silvery moon
You could go snowshoeing at the Full Moon Snowshoe Tour, set for Monday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Bring a headlamp and snowshoes and discover Libby Hill in the light of a full moon. They will do a leisurely two-hour tour using trails and off trail routes.
This event is by advanced reservation only and a $10 donation per person to the ‘Save Libby Hill’ campaign is required. Up to six additional pairs of snowshoes can be lent out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register online at www.libbyhill.org or call Steve McPike at 657-2114.
They are also holding a snowshoe raffle for only $1. Get your tickets now, and help save Libby Hill and win a men’s pair of L.L. Bean’s Winter Walker Snowshoes donated by trail supporter, Mike Vadis. Also available, courtesy of Eastern Mountain Sports, are a women’s pair of Tubbs Venture 25 Women’s Snowshoes. The drawing of two pairs of snowshoes (two chances to win) will be held in March. Be a good sport
On Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6:00 p.m., the G-NG High School Boosters will meet. Several officer positions will be vacated in the next year. Please consider taking an active role in the Boosters to help make a difference
The Boosters had a successful fall season of fundraising with the Snack Shack at football and soccer games. They also hosted the Second Annual Patriot Trail Run at Pineland and ran food and beverage concessions for the Patriot Cross Road Challenge. They will continue to raise funds through the winter with concessions at basketball games and the sale of raffle tickets for a Boston Bruins game.
The G-NG Boosters provided significant funding for equipment in the High School Fitness Center, they award senior class athletes with Senior Sweatshirts, they have funded several team equipment, uniform, and coaching stipends requests, including several for middle school teams. They also provide resources for the fall and winter sports banquets and present the Student Athletes Award annually in the spring.
The future of the Boosters is dependent upon volunteers and a commitment to the mission of the Boosters. Please attend our meeting and get involved while having fun.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m., come learn about your favorite wines and cheeses at Fiddlehead Center, 25 Shaker Road in Gray. The fee is a $15 suggested donation. For more information call 657-2244.
February’s Fun Camp
Gray Parks and Recreational will again be offering the popular vacation day camp program (ages 6 to 13) during the week of Feb. 16. The time is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the option of an early drop-off at 7 a.m. and late pick-up at 5 p.m.
February Vacation Camp will be held at G-NG High School and will offer three structured enrichment classes in the morning, and in the afternoon the campers will be going on five field trips: Happy Wheels, Sparetime Bowling, Snow tubing at Sea Coast Fun Park, a matinee movie (age appropriate) and Jokers.
This program is limited to children ages 6 to 13 and there is a maximum of 36 children that will be accepted. A healthy lunch and snack must be packed daily (please no soda or glass containers). Campers will be supervised by 3 to 4 high school-aged counselors throughout the day.
The full-time fee is $160 (including trip cost ) or Pick-A-Day Fee as follows: Monday, $40; Tuesday, $42; Wednesday, $52; Thursday, $43; and Friday, $50. Call Dean M. Bennett at 657-2323 or e-mail dbennett@graymaine.org for more information.
5th grade on the move
The Student Population/Facilities Committee will recommend to the School Administrative District 15 School Board that the fifth grade move from Dunn School to Gray-New Gloucester Middle School beginning in the 2009-2010 school year to ease the projected student enrollment growth at Dunn School.
An opportunity for public input and questions for the Committee will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. at the middle school.
Help the G-NG Seniors!
Gray-New Gloucester Project Graduation 2009 is raising money to cover the cost of the senior trip and graduation celebration and are accepting orders for giant sub sandwiches for the Daytona 500 Sunday, Feb. 15. They will deliver your sandwiches to your front door on the day of the event. The cost is $10 each for a giant sub sandwich on full loaf of Italian bread.
Pick up your order blank at the high school, town libraries, town halls or businesses around town and send to: GNG Project Graduation 2009, 291 Yarmouth Road, Gray, ME 04039, or place your order blank in the Project Graduation Drop Box located in Main Office at G-NG High School by Feb. 11.

They did a great job and there seems to be something for everyone.
