A hearty ‘Thank you’

From Madeline R. Roberts of the Windham Food Pantry:

“Thank you to all who made our Thanksgiving and Christmas basket distribution a great success. Your generosity helped many enjoy holiday dinners and for all who contributed toward our Toy Workshop through contributions of wonderful toys, clothing and gift cards, you made it a huge success.

“We also thank those of you who opened your hearts and adopted families, providing them with food and gifts. The following is not totally inclusive but we hope will cover most contributors who made this a joyous season.

“The Windham Food Pantry wishes to thank all of the following for their generosity: all local banks and businesses, both large and small; area churches, fraternal and other organizations; real estate and mortgage companies; Windham schools (all grades, plus the Real School, Westbrook Vocational and St. Joseph’s College); supermarkets, including Hoggy’s Meat Market; Windham Automotive and owner Ron Eby for the donation of a total of 130 Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets; Windham Town Hall staff; Girl and Boy Scouts; local newspapers for the wonderful job they do of supporting us all this year, and last but not least, all of the private citizens in Windham and surrounding communities who so generously contributed. We are so grateful to everyone, but we cannot possibly list all of our contributors.

“This year, with the help of the community, we are able to provide 238 Thanksgiving Baskets, 170 Christmas Baskets and 116 families with a total of 291 children received gifts from our Toy Workshop. This could not have been accomplished without the generosity from all of the community and the hard work of all our volunteers.”

Happy birthday

Courtney Downs celebrated her 28th birthday Jan. 14. She spent the day with friends and family. Courtney says she can’t wait until she is 30. Wow.
