CUNDY’S HARBOR — Florence May “Flossie” Alexander, 80, died Jan. 9 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth.
She was born in Harpswell Sept. 24, 1928, daughter of Charles E. and Ethel W. (Darling) Lumbert.
She attended Cundy’s Harbor and Brunswick schools.
On July 20, 1946, she married Aubrey G. Alexander.
She worked as a telephone operator for 32 years, including 26 years with Regional Memorial Hospital and six years with Parkview Adventist Hospital.
She was spiritual, kind, and a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She enjoyed frequent trips on Maine-Line Tours, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and sitting by her picture window watching the birds eat and the tide roll in. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of the Cundy’s Harbor Church of the Nazarene.
She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey, on Feb. 2, 1979; two sons, Ernest G. and Andrew B. Alexander; a brother, Walter Hutchins; and a grandson, Trenton Hart.
Surviving is a son, John Alexander and his wife Darlene of West Bath; a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Alexander of Cundy’s Harbor; a brother, Robert Lumbert of Cundy’s Harbor; six grandchildren, Melissa Alexander of Titusville, Fla., Melanie Alexander of Marble, N.C., Dennis Cotton of Starks, Pegi-Ann Cotton of Harpswell, Nina Miller of Dunn, N.C., and Fern Thompson of Virginia Beach, Va; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, Brunswick.
