BRUNSWICK — Laurence J. White, 78, died Dec. 28 at Mid Coast Senior Health Center.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 23, 1930, the son of Harold R. and Maybelle (Richardson) White.
He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1952.
After graduation, he worked as an engineer in Michigan, in sales in Chicago, and as an associate editor for a publication of the American Chemical Society. He held various positions in public relations and in editing and marketing for engineering publications.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the Packaging Institute. He was also editor of The Indicator, a publication of the American Chemical Society.
He enjoyed photography, computers, and designing Web sites.
He lived in Brunswick for three years, after living in Cape Cod.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Emily (Speer) White of Brunswick; two daughters, Barbara J. Rieck and her husband Albert, and Janet M. White, both of Lansdale, Pa.; his sister, Beverly M. White of Park Ridge, Ill.; two stepsons, Donald R. Dorer and his wife Wendy of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Douglas R. Dorer and his wife Mary Anne Jones of West Davenport, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Marie K. Rieck and Albert J. Rieck, Minka L. Dorer and Ryan H. Dorer.
Services will be held later in the spring.
Arrangements are by the Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
