PORTLAND — Marion R. (Lowell) Smith, 74, of North Yarmouth died on Dec. 12 at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Portland in 1934, daughter of Wesley and Mary (Rasmussen) Lowell.
A beloved mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her love of baking and making birthdays a very special time for her family, and especially for her chocolate cakes with white icing sprinkled with M & Ms. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens and tending to her houseplants. She was also an avid knitter and crocheter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She was predeceased by her brother, Linton Lowell, who died while serving in World War II, and her twin sister, Marjorie (Lowell) Jenson of Westbrook.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerald K. Smitt of North Yarmouth; three sons, Wayne W. Smith of Westbrook and his wife Stacey, Stephen Smith of North Yarmouth, Terry Smith of Lewiston and his wife Laura; one daughter, Sharon Smith of North Yarmouth; her sister, Dorothy Sears of Rockland; her brother, Donald Lowell of Saco and his wife Lillian; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held last week.
Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, Yarmouth.
