Men’s 4 on 4 basketball league playoffs get started

No. 8 New Era upended No. 9 SKB, 99-86, in a first round match up. Robert Pillsbury poured in a game high 44 for New Era. Bob Davies led SKB with 34.

No. 10 Run N Gun upset No. 7 Wreckin Ball, 92-82. Kevin Lamson led a balanced Run N Gun attack with 24. Brett Souchek had 31 for Wreckin Ball.

No. 4 Legends downed No. 5 Dream Team, 107-88. Frank Billings paced the Legends with 35. Mike Amergian had 31 for Dream Team.

No. 3 Smith Barney squeaked by No. 6 Hancock, 92-90. CJ Leferve had 31 for Smith Barney. Bob Mayo had nine threes and 42 points for Hancock.

No. 2 Colonial Tree pounded No. 10 Run N Gun, 120-91. Ben Morrison drained 10 threes and scored 24 to led Colonial Tree. Rich Wong exploded for 43 for Run N Gun.

No. 1 VTEC trounced a weary New Era, 118-80. Derek Lovely led VTEC with 33. Bill Hardwick had 33 in a losing cause for New Era.

Semifinal action: No. 1 VTEC vs. No. 4 Legends, No. 2 Colonial Tree vs. No. 3 Smith Barney.

Men’s 40 & over basketball league-Smith Barney wins title

Smith Barney Sr. hammered the Recking Crew, 97-58, in the first-ever championship game. Smith Barney Sr. was never threatened in winning the title. John Bagshaw led the winners with 32. Kevin Sullivan had 19 for Recking Crew. Thanks to all for a fine season, look for the next league in March!

Men’s flag football league playoff results

The quarterfinal action saw No. 3 Red Dog hold off No. 6 Whitney & Pound, 46-40. Whitney & Pound made a 20-point rally to make it close.

John O’Brien fired seven touchdown passes for the winners. Nate King had three touchdown catches and a sack for Whitney & Pound.

No. 2 Lightning cruised into the semis by crushing No. 7 Backyard Bombers, 50-6. Brandon Hinkley dominated the game for the victors, throwing 6 touchdown passes and intercepting three on defense. Dawson Davis had a touchdown catch for Backyard Bombers.

No. 4 Pat’s Pizza downed No. 5 Dayton Hitmen, 40-20. Shaun Morrison threw six scoring passes and ran for one, Justin Collins had 3 touchdown catches for Pat’s Pizza. Scott Beattie tossed 2 touchdown passes and ran for one for Dayton Hitmen.

No. 1 Swamp Dawgs defeated No. 8 Leatherheads by forfeit. Semifinals are set: No. 1 Swamp Dawgs vs. No. 4 Pat’s Pizza and No. 2 Lightning vs. No. 3 Red Dog.
