It was a good season for the Scarborough cross country teams, as both the boys and girls teams swept the Class A cross country championships last month.

In addition, the Red Storm also captured the SMAA “second 7” championship, which was held last month at Cheverus.

In the boys race, Jamison Esquibel of South Portland won a close race over Scarborough’s David O’Sullivan Frost and Duncan Scott. The Storm clinched the title by capturing the second through seventh spots in the top 10, giving them enough points to take the title.

On the girls side, Scarborough’s Kelsey Schild helped the Storm capture the title with a 33-second win over second place Lauren Lessard of Thornton Academy. Joining Schild in the top 10 were teammates Ashley Jesseman (3), Rachelle Greene (4), Emily O’Connor (6), Jenny Snyder (7) and Catherine Hall (8).
