Both Gorham and Westbrook police will conduct sobriety checkpoints during the Labor Day weekend.
Lt. Chris Sanborn said the Gorham Police Department would utilize money from a grant from the Bureau of Highway Safety for the checkpoint. Gorham police have used the grant to cover operating-under-the-influence enforcement since June 29.
Sanborn said the enforcement is part of a national campaign through the National Highway Safety Administration.
“The campaign tag line is ‘Drunk Driving – Over the Limit, Under Arrest,'” Sanborn said.
