Activities for Saturday’s Scarborough Marsh Day include:

7-8:30 a.m.: Bird walk, meet at the Eastern Trail on Route 9.

7-9 a.m.: Photography, meet at Town Landing Co-op area.

9-10 a.m.: Ecology and history walk, meet at the Eastern Trail on Route 9.

9-11 a.m.: Clam-digging demonstrations at Town Landing Co-op area.

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.: Canoe tour from Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center.

2-3:30 p.m.: Wildflower walk, meet at Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center.

Activities for all ages will begin early Saturday morning as part of Scarborough Marsh Day, sponsored by Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center and Friends of Scarborough Marsh.

The day is a celebration of Maine’s largest salt marsh and its mascot bird, the snowy egret, as well as other wildlife with free nature activities for children and adults.

Ongoing from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Scarborough Marsh Audubon will be a used-book sale, nature craft-making sessions and more, including special programs for children, as well as displays and information about the marsh’s unique ecosystem. Information on marsh restoration projects and Friends of Scarborough Marsh also will be available.

Fiddlehead Center for the Arts will create a “Family Paint Out” during the day, providing art supplies and an on-site artist for consultation. Those interested should meet at the tent located on the Eastern Trail on the Route 9 side.

Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center is open 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily through Labor Day and weekends in September. It is located on Route 9, Pine Point Road, and provides a variety of guided and self-guided walks and canoe tours as well as interactive exhibits, a nature trail, canoe rentals and a Maine Audubon Nature Store. All guided programs are led by trained naturalists.
