Portland rock band, Rustic Overtones, has planned two “up close and personal” free acoustic performances at two different Bull Moose locations in Greater Portland.
The Rustic Overtones, whose lead singer Dave Gutter manages Dave Gutter’s Meat Market in Windham, is promoting its first new CD since they disbanded in 2002. The band’s first appearance is at Bull Moose Music’s Scarborough store at 456 Payne Road on Sunday, July 22 at 5 p.m. and the second is at the Portland store (151 Middle St.) on their new CD’s release date, Tuesday, July 24 at 6 p.m.
The band will be performing tracks from its new CD, Light at the End. Both of these casual venues will provide fans an opportunity to meet the band and get autographs – and on July 24 the band will sign copies of their newly released CD. The CD will feature new material by the band as well as previously recorded but unreleased songs.
Bull Moose’s new online store currently offers fans the ability to pre-order “Light at the End” online (www.bullmoose.com); The Rustic Overtones will autograph CDs that are pre-ordered before July 18.
In 1994, the Rustic Overtones released their debut album, Shish Boom Bam, under the Ripchord Records indie label. That was followed up by Long Division in 1995, My Dirt EP in 1996, and Rooms by the Hour in 1997. In 1999, Rustic Overtones signed with Arista Records and released the Volume Up EP. In 2001, they released Viva Nueva for Tommy Boy records. Rustic Overtones’ music is full of energy that is carried by guitar solos and intricate horn work. The style is a mix of pop, funk, jazz and rock.
The Rustic Overtones first plugged-in return performance as a full band in three years will be the free WCYY Patio Show on July 27 in Portland.
