The single female entrant, Shayna Fitzgerald, had no trouble winning her

division. She still had to move all that weight, though. Here, she’s

carrying about 120 pounds in each hand in the Farmer’s Walk event.

As competitor Harley Davidson of Westfield, Mass., moved the hydrant down

the course, a huge truck tire waited to be flipped three times in the

Medley.

A lot of pain, a lot of strain, all for a lot of gain. Entrants came from

all over New England and even Quebec for the first Overcome Strength

Challenge, a strongman competition featuring five events. The Challenge was

a benefit for local businessman Lloyd Storey, who was diagnosed with cancer

earlier this year. His son Elliot organized the event.
