On Saturday, June 16, the town of Standish held its annual town meeting at the Standish Municipal Center.

Bill Dale acted as moderator, and read through each of the 27 articles on the town budget for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. Attending registered voters of Standish approved each article without dissent.

At the close of the annual meeting, three new board members were sworn into office. Terry Christie, Jeffrey Burgess and Wayne Newbegin all took oaths before taking a seat alongside existing members, Philip Pomerleau, Carolyn Biegel, and Louis Stack for a special town council meeting. Stack was then voted council chairman, and Newbegin was named vice chairman.
