• Lakes Region Farmer’s Market runs 8 a.m. to noon until Oct. 13. Rain or shine at Manchester Elementary School on Route 302 in North Windham.
• Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. A free story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.
• Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.
• A Caregiver’s Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Bridgton Community Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This discussion group is sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association. • American Legion Standish Memorial Post 128 meets every second and fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Beach Road Club House on Route 25 in Standish. All veterans, past and present, are welcome.
• The Windham Fire Department sponsors a child car seat inspection every third Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Windham Fire Station. FMI 892-1912.
• Avalon Lakes Region Food Pantry in Naples has been helping the southern Maine community since 2003. Call 693-3056 for an appointment.

June 22: American Legion Post 155 on Route 11 in Naples is holding a Haddock Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. No reservations needed. $8 per plate, includes dessert and coffee.
June 23: A public bean supper will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. at Windham Hill United Church of Christ, 140 Windham Center Road. Menu includes hot dogs, three varieties of baked beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. Price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
June 23: Windham Summerfest takes place on the ground of the Windham High School. Rain date is June 24. Parade participants needed. Food and game booths available for organizations, churches or businesses. Special events include a parade at 9 a.m., frog jumping contest, live band concerts, bicycle rodeo, helicopter rides, games and activities all day, craft fair, softball game with Windham Police vs. Windham Fire, skate park competition, soccer tournament, and a large fireworks display at dusk. June 25: Windham Cancer Support Group meets 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Windham Public Library’s meeting room. Guest speaker is Betty McLeod of Windham.
June 30: The Hawthorne Community Association holds its annual Strawberry Festival 6-8 p.m. at the historic Nathaniel Hawthorne House at the corner of Cape and Hawthorne roads in Raymond. Fresh shortcake, hand-picked strawberries and real whipped cream to be served. Donation is $5 for adults, $3 for children 8 and under. June 30: From 5 to 6 p.m., enjoy an “Italian Interlude” at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, Route 121 in Casco Village. Enjoy a romantic atmosphere and dine on delicious homemade Italian fare, including lasagna, pasta, garlic bread, salad, beverages, and an assortment of wonderful desserts. $6 adults and $3 for children 12 and under. July 5-22: Schoolhouse Arts Center presents the musical comedy Guys and Dolls. Thursday, Friday & Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 5 p.m. Additional performances on July 11 and 18 are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14/$16. Call 642-3743 for reservations.

July 20-21: The Saco Valley Fiber artists will be offering their annual workshop on Friday, July 20th and Saturday July 21 at Shearbrooke Farm in Standish. Half- and full-day classes are available in weaving, spinning, rug hooking, rug braiding, felting, dyeing, bead knitting, and much more.
