This old tool was recently donated to the Windham Historical Society and it’s a mystery as to what it was used for. It looks like a paper cutter, but obviously that’s not what it is. This is from an old home and an old family. The little blade is about four inches long. We’ve searched on many tool sites on the Internet and haven’t come up with a logical use, as yet. Can any of our readers explain what this was used for? There are no identifying marks on either the wooden base or the metal handle and cutting edge. The tool can be seen at the Old Grocery Museum, corner of Windham Center Road and Route 202, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Contact this newspaper or Kay Soldier at kso48@aol.com if you can help solve this mystery. Photo courtesy of Windham Historical Society
