For the past year and a half, Joshua Conley, of Standish, has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Chemotherapy put Joshua’s cancer into remission for several months, allowing him to return to school and resume his normal routine. Now, the cancer is back, and Conley’s doctors say a bone marrow transplant is his best chance for being cured.

Joshua’s family and friends are teaming up with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the National Marrow Donor Program to help find a matching donor for Joshua.

The Joshua’s Journey Bone Marrow Drive will be held on Sunday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at Yarmouth High School, 286 West Elm Street, Yarmouth.

Joining the marrow donors’ national registry requires only a mouth swab. However, becoming a volunteer donor is a serious commitment. Those who join the registry are asked to remain committed to donating for any patient, anywhere in the world, regardless of the patient’s age, race or sex. This commitment can mean the difference between life and death for a patient. Donors must be between 18 and 60 years of age.

A silent auction and a bake sale will also be held during Conley’s drive. Anyone willing to donate items for the auction or bake sale, or people willing to volunteer their time during the Bone Marrow Drive, should contact organizer Billy-Joe Libby at 688-4672.
