A sewing class at Windham High School donated two quilts to the Camp Sunshine charity in Casco for seriously ill children and their families.
“They think it’s a good cause,” said Adena Emery of her Fiber Arts class students who made the quilts. She said all four of the students who presented the quilts to Camp Sunshine Director of Special Events Michael Smith last Thursday signed up as volunteers.
“I think they didn’t realize how important this was until they went there, and it was very powerful for them,” said Emery. She said her students plan to create more quilts for the charity.
“We at Camp Sunshine are deeply grateful that her students chose to make quilts for us. We think of quilts as ‘hugs’ enveloping our sick kiddos and their families. These students have generously made and donated two big hugs,” said Donna Leith, development director at the camp.
Sunshinequilts: Camp Sunshine Director of Special Events Michael Smith and Maureen Varney, Brittany Demmons, Amanda Meyer and Caroline Stewart of Windham High School’s Fiber Arts class hold the two quilts donated to the charity last week.
