Graduates

Jenessa Lynn Vance, class president of Windham High School in 2003, graduated from the University of Southern Maine College of Health Professions on Saturday, May 12. Jenessa, daughter of David and Judith Vance of Windham, was awarded her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In 2005, Jenessa graduated from the University of New England and received her Associates Degree in Nursing. She also passed the State Boards in 2005, becoming a registered nurse. Vance is employed by Maine Medical Family Practice Center.

Returned Home

Herbert and Pearl Cram and their daughter, Linda Jean Bird, have returned home to Toutle, Wash. They had spent a month here visiting family in Windham and in Massachussetts.

Anniversary

Ed and Polly Varney, Nash Road, celebrated their 57th anniversary, Saturday, May 19. Ed was in Maine Medical Center on their special day so they will do something to celebrate when he gets home.

Reminder

Don’t forget the bean supper on Saturday, May 26 from 5-6:30 p.m at the Windham Hill Church. There will be hot dogs, beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. The price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Historical Society

On Monday, May 28, at 7 p.m., the historical society will have a short business meeting followed by a viewing of “Windham 1890-1930,” a film produced by the society and the library with the funding from the Maine Humanities Council. The short film is narrated by Walter Lunt. The public is welcome to attend, refreshments will be served and donations are welcome.

Farmer’s Market

The Lakes Region Farmer’s Market is open in the Manchester School parking lot on Route 302 in North Windham from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday, rain or shine, through Oct. 13.

Opens Salon

Tracey Varney Chambers, Baker Mountain Road in Windham, opened a new salon May 17. It is named “Re Salon and Spa” and is located under the Pier in Old Orchard Beach.
