Regula leads Monks to league title
Kaylin Regula of Windham recorded the first triple-double of her career with 12 boards, 10 points and 12 assists as Saint Joseph’s College edged St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn, 64-62 in overtime Saturday. The Monks (9-16) then earned back to back DIII Independent Championship plaques Sunday when they defeated #1 Maine-Presque Isle, 60-39 in the league championship game. Regula dominated the boards with 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists to go along with 2 steals and 2 points and earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
Pulkkinen recent player of the week
During the last week in January, St. Joseph’s College senior guard Chad Pulkkinen of Windham was named the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In a 3-0 week, Pulkkinen shot 62% (18-29) from the field and 64% (11-17) from behind the arc while averaging 16.3 points per game. He recorded 18 points in a 99-91 overtime victory over Thomas College, including a steal and two free throws with 27 seconds to go to seal the overtime win and added 16 points in a 79-57 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle.
